X10 Wireless and Windows 7 64bit
« on: September 04, 2010, 05:24:15 PM »

Hey all,

Has anyone found a solution to getting the VA12A USB Video converter, along with the X10 system to work with Windows 7 64bit? I am about ready to box it all up and ship it back. Reading the forums it seems that people can get the software to work just fine, but getting the actual camera feeds to work through the PC running Windows 7 64bit is a no go. Well, for my purposes this makes the system pretty much useless if I can have it capturing video/snapshots when I'm away.

Anyone had any luck with anything? Again, if I can't get this video to feed into the computer properly, this system is no better than a paperweight for my needs.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thank you I will check it out. I have a stupid question, is the Vanguard software the same as the AHP product? If not can you d/l it or do you have to buy it. I tell ya I get lost on the X10 website, holy crapola.

Vanguard is a separate software they sell. It is tailored for cameras only.
AHP, with the iWatchout plugin, would be my choice over Vanguard.
I don't believe you can use both on the same system.
Do you have the full AHP software suite? You would have to have the iWatchout plugin to use the cameras with it.
Also, I believe you have to use AHP version 3.236 or later to have the VA12A work properly.

va12 works with ahp 2.236 out of the box on win7 64bit. va11 does NOT work with any version of win7 64bit.

vangaurd worked with va12 on my win7 64bit but since you cannot run vangaurd AND ahp at the same time to share video, I threw my vangaurd away and stuck with ahp for video snapshots (since ahp does not do video recording correctly).
