X10 Audio/Video Sender
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:04:17 PM »

Hi,

Does anyone knows if this unit works without a cable box? How would I change channels? Hooking up to the VCR would only get me channels 2-13, and not CNN, Discovery, History, etc.

I've asked this question elsewhere but no reply yet, and it looks like this IS the forum to ask, so here I am.

Thanks for any help!!!

It takes composite video and audio from a source and routes it to a distant TV. If you are asking if you can directly connect your cable to the Video Sender the answer is No. It needs video / audio from a cable box, VCR, DVD, etc.
The Video Receiver will relay the IR signal from your source remote control, back to the source (cable box, VCR, etc).

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I guess I am out of luck. My cable provider don't provide a cable box. I used VCR to hook up and only get channels 2-13. Again, thanks.

channels 2-13 (vhf channels) transfer to the cable band, but the upper channels do not.  try setting the vcr from "broadcast/air" to cable and see what happens

I tried to have the VCR re-scan the channels by going into menu/setup but since it's so old, none of the buttons on the remote control works except for the up/down channel, the video play/stop buttons, and a couple of other buttons.

Thanks!
