I haven't had that happen but do you see a macros.bak file? That would contain the version prior to the latest saved. Do you have a memory stick backup or backup drive?  Worst case you could do a WIN system restore.
i did rename the .bak and it also came up blank.  What do you mean win system restore?

You could go into the Windows settings and do a 'system restore' to bring back your PC to a restore point prior to losing the files.  Do you have a backup drive for your files attached to your PC or maybe OneDrive, Dropbox or some other automatic backup program?  You might have some luck there.  Also check to see if the file might have somehow been saved to another folder or sub-directory on your PC.  In Explorer (or whatever file manager you use) select "This PC" and do a file search.
