Are the wireless cameras safe?
« on: December 30, 2004, 03:10:54 PM »

I'm thinking of getting on of those wireless
cameras, but was wondering if they are safe?
what will prevent someone from sitting there
and going through all the codes to watch
what's on my camera?  Is it better to go with
a wired camera?

Xcam2 Wireless camera sends video signal to
4 different Mhz Signal (A,B,C & D).  The
camera is controlled by X10 house codes
with 256 different combinations.  If you
are going to install Wireless camera within
the house, there will be a very slim chance
of a person would do a random searching for
the right combination.  But, if you think
that you have neighor who are techie or
hacker, I would recommend you to use the
Wired xCam2 cameras for safety.

There is nothing stopping them. In fact
anyone with a reciever for the wireless xcams
that is within range can pick up the signal
and they don't need to be tech-savy. I have
all of my cameras pointed outside so it
doesn't bother me. I would use wired cameras
if you want to have cameras in your house,
but personally I wouldn't do that either.

Doesn't even have to be an Xcam receiver.
There are low lifes driving around with
stuff they made from internet plans looking
at everything. Baby Monitors wireless
cameras etc.

Quixote is right. I have all 8 cams pointed
outside my house also.  Be careful with
cams that you use inside the house though.
Some people maybe your visitor would feel
threatened and might sue you for voyeurism.
You get my idea. Some people (and i'm not
saying there are) are Paranoia.. and afraid
of cameras, if you get my point. 8)
