  New to the forum...

  OK,  Got my package today containing 2 more XPPF 5 amp filters.  As suggested, I put 2 in series, then the Microwave. 
  
  No luck    The X-10 in 2 rooms still does not respond...

  Disregard entire post.  Not only are the two still controller or not depending on the microwave, but the whole filter thing was a red herring.  Sorry.  Back to square one...

  OK All, so I know I sound like a total nut job.... 
  
  I was sure that it was not working...  I really was.  And I think the problem is not the filter or the phase or anything, but the strength of signal from my palm pad remote.
  
  I installed a filter on the microwave and one on the tv/vcr.  When I am near the transmitter, all seems to work.  When I am in the rooms in question (far away from the transmitter) they do not work.
  
  So should I replace the 5 amp with a 15 amp?

IMHO, the most efficient way to solve X-10 problems is with a 'Sniper Rifle', *NOT* a 'Shotgun'.

You need to spend some time:

• DOCUMENTING: MAP / MEASURE / CORRECT - be sure to read the EXCELLENT articles written by JeffVolp and Puck
  
  
• ANALYZING & PLANNING:
  
  ?Somewhere? here in my 'archived' yakking, you'll find my analogy of 'shouting to be heard over the sound of the vacuum cleaner'. Until you DOCUMENT *YOUR* house, you're going to keep bouncing off the walls like a rubber ball (and wasting money). Do you want to proceed 'blindly' with "Try This!"; Didn't work? "Well, Now Try This!!" or do you want to FIX the problem as directly as possible?
  
  Buy yourself the ESM-1, a WIRED controller, a 'Noise-Maker' (Chime or Universal Module) and a LONG (50') 16-3 extension cord. While you're waiting for your "TOOLS" to arrive, READ, READ, READ...

goto froogle.google.com and search for "elk x10 signal"
then sort from price: low to high.

i believe it's the third link for home depot.   
(first & second links are worth looking at and comparing shipping)
then there's www.automatedoutlet.com & www.smarthome.com which
are popular sources of x10 supply and will have it as well.
