Want a native solution for controlling your X10 devices from your iPhone or iPod touch?   How about supporting all current X10 RF and IR remotes also?  Script multiple events so you can turn lights on in one room, dim them in another, and turn your tv on all from one button of your remote or iPod/iPhone?  Sounds good right.

Check it out...

I'm using this and it really is excellent and very simple.

For just on/off and dim operations it removes the need for ActiveHome completely.

It would be nice if there was a lite version with maybe 1 or 2 'switches' so you could try it first though. I took the plunge (£5.99) and haven't regretted it.

If you've got an iPhone it's a must, IMHO :)

I am really impressed with this app. I loaded and configured the Pc in minutes and downloaded x10 commander from itunes and it ran perfect. Great stuff.

I think philliec is referring to our native iPhone/iPod app for X10 called X10 Commander found here:

Check this out www.ikatron.com -> products -> imca. Seems very powerful does integration with x10 and can do much more. They work with integrators but you can ask them directly. See screen shots there

Yeah... I asked my wife for an iphone... and she said no.

But I am thinking that the new (looks like the iphone) ipod will also operate X10... is that true? What are the abilities/limitations with the ipod?

With the iPod or iPhone you can control X10 with our X10 specific application called X10 Commander.

Sure would love to see this, or something similar, ported over to the Android phone OS!

I plan on doing an Android port.  Don't know how soon I will get to it but I would like to do it.

I think there would be a lot of interest in this.  I've been doing a lot of searching for something like this will no result, but a large number of others expressing their own interest in an Android solution.

I think since i already have my communication protocol and server apps to support X10 from PC or Mac it is just a matter of writing the Android client.  Not sure how much it would entail but I would hope it is easier than for the iPhone!

Please keep us posted on your efforts to port to Android!  I'll be sure to give a full report to the other forum members by way of a review on its implementation and execution.
