This redesigned Leviton X10 Motion Detector has a feature not available on the X10 PIRs. Multiple units set to the same house code and unit code operate as one system. This is achieved by the fact that these units send the X10 "hail acknowledge" code every 6 seconds while motion is sensed, triggering a two-way response. When these units receive the proper signal, they will all turn on (or reset their timed off if they are already on).

with the pr511 the only way your HA software will know if it gets triggered or if its dark where it is, is if you define three objects for it: its own unit code, +1 which it will send when it gets triggered, and +5 which will send depending on dusk and dark....kind of a hack...

It would be easy if it just sent its own house code when it went on, and be able to respond to acks/hails

Maybe I'm missing something? 
I have two of these both can be polled from AHP for their status and AHP reports when they come on or go off!
Now if someone was to turn off the light from a switch  then back on from the switch it doesn't report itself as being turned on but a poll will report the correct status.

I'm not an AHP user so I don't know if it is doing anything on the back-end, I also don't know what settings you have for your pr511

Testing with A thirdparty software it is true it doesn't send a signal indicating it's address is on. One does see the device it triggers go ON and Off , if the software had a querry option you could check the PR511s status.

I wish I knew how that was possible because the PR511 is not a 2-way device. and yes any software would see +1 through +4 go on an off, but not the actual unit code it is set for. Just saying I recommend the Leviton model for ease of use with HA software.

Maybe because X10 classifies it as a security light.
I did some more tests with the SDK and it is true it won't respond to acks/hails it does respond to the statusrequest with a statusOn or StatusOff a query doesn't work on my setup for any X10 device for some unknown reason, but I would think it should respond to it as well.

Just saying I recommend the Leviton model for ease of use with HA software.

Sorry kinda lost ya there...

With heyu and a cm11a, I get nothing with status, status_on, or status_off. however heyu statusstate returns 0 when off only because it is reading its internal tables...not sure if the same thing is happening with yours

I have my 2 PR511s controlling interior lights.  Hence, when one or both of those devices come on and reported on the Activity Monitor, that's when I know the PR511s were triggered.

So as a workaround ... perhaps just set the PR511 to trigger a dummy or macro code to report that it was triggered?

Great idea! I use one PR511 as a sensor only... no lights. And because it functions only as part of my Occupancy Sensing... it only uses dummy modules.
