Name of Camera Sending Motion Notification
« on: July 04, 2021, 11:22:01 AM »

There are just too many threads and keywords to make an effective search.

So, could someone please tell me how to rename X69A cameras so that the name sent in a motion notification is more descriptive than its UID?

Thank you...

I'm still trying to find a way to have the X10Airsight IOS App send the IP Camera's Name (more meaningful) rather than the GUID upon motion detection.

Can anyone help?

I dont use the app.
Log onto your camera via its Ip.
Setup the camera name, motion sensor triggers and email notification from it.

Thanks, TUICEMEN

I have examined the Airsight IP Camera Viewer configuration from start to finish and cannot find a way to accomplish this.

Can you recommend a viewer that can send a notification upon motion detection that sends the user-inserted camera name rather than the camera UID?

Thanx...

I don't use an app for notifications. These are sent directly from my camera and configured from its webpage. Option to send email is under alarm settings/motion detection. Email setting info is set under network settings.
If you wish a SMS instead of a email I believe this is possible too, however you need to know your service providers SMS email link info.

Here's a fairly complete list of the email domains used for email to text in the US and Canada.  Just put your 10 digit number before the @:

My motion detector, package drop and mailbox all text me when opened/activatated.

Thanks, TUICEMEN and BROBIN.

I clicked Send Email in the Motion Detection tab but when attempting to save after entering the email information in the Network tab, I get "params error"

By trial and error, I think I found that it is the password field that causes the error.

Any help appreciated.

Are you using any password characters other than numbers and letters?  Some older systems may not accept non-alphnumeric characters like !#$%&?+.  If so, reset your email password using just alpha-numerics and you should be good to go.  Another issue could be password length if it's more than 8 characters so shortening to a password with no more than 8 alpha-numerics might be the solution.

If you aren't comfortable changing the password on your email account you can get a free email account from google, yahoo, mail.com and many others and just use that for your camera and other low security applications.  I do that myself.

That was it!

My regular password had some special characters.

I have setup a new email account with a password with just numbers and letters and now, all is well in the world!

Thanks again for your help...

Oooooops!

Spoke too soon.

After creating the new gmail account with a password that was only numbers and letters, I was able to get the Airsight Camera to accept the smtp user name and password but the test now reports FAIL.

What's the next trick to get this to work?

I don't really know anything about the Airsight Camera but the web interface for my Stagate controller can't send emails through gmail due to the higher level of security that many email providers like gmail have required in the last 5 years.  My solution to that was to send the email through SMTP2GO.com and you can use whaterver email address you like.  They have a free account that gives you a generous 1000 free emails/month which should be enough for your application.  It enables you to use the older style less secure SMTP ports like 2525 successfully.  Have a look and see if that solves it for you.  I've been using it for about 5 years now with no issues so my old Stargate controller can send emails.

I have no idea if this is the problem but at least it's something to look at.

I never had any luck with gmail and the Airsight I used hotmail when I was using the motion alarm.

I just can't give this up!

After trying all of the suggestions you guys have made, I have gotten to the point where the TEST function reports:

"Test  ...  Cgi program failed"

Any suggestions?
