Nightvision cams are poor quality.
« on: August 21, 2005, 12:55:35 AM »

This is false advertising. Saying these
cameras are "Nightvision" or even "Low
light" is a joke. I purchased 3 of these
useless cameras and they cant see anything
at night. As useless as the color cameras
as soon as it starts to get dusk. Very
disappointed and will no longer promote
these to my clients.

They are not advertised as Infra-Red
cameras which are the only ones that would
work at night.

They do work well in low light, which
obviously does require light.  Expecting
them to work as infra-red is illogical.

If you don't have enough light just put a
low light source in the area set to the
same ID# as the camera.

They work exactly as advertised.  Don't
blame other people because you don't
understand the difference between low light
and no light.

Good points Pilot ... also, if it is dark,
you would want light to come on with motion
anyway ... to drive away the threat.

Do you want an IR video of people breaking
in, and making off with your property, or
do you want the bandits to get away from
your property?

Ok a step back so that two steps forward can
be made. Resulting in a whole 1 step.

"Night vision" as defined by
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=Night%20Vision
is "ability to see in dim light (as provided
by moon and stars)

so why in the heck would you expect to HAVE
to use a electrical light source!!!!!! These
definitions are NOT something I made up, or
even something left to interpretation, I
think it is very clear on what the definition
by a widely used resource means!!

shall we continue this ??? who would you say
doesnt understand what no light low light and
Night vision means? apparently Pilot has the
understanding problem, but i will be around
to help you whenever i can

" (IR) Electromagnetic waves in the frequency
range just below visible light corresponding
to radiated heat.
IR waves can be generated by a kind of LED"

OK, when did X-10 start selling Infra-red
cameras?  LOL

They sell low light, not no light.

Just read the description carefully and you
will not get confused by those who don't
know what low light means.

he wanted. how bout you comment on your
ignorance of what night vision meant.

clear you have no understanding. you want to
talk crap about me posting what ir means.
this comes after you cant clearly read and
explain what nightvision means. pilot, i got
all the time in the world we can continue
this for as long as you like. lets see just

Oh good, now everyone agrees that they
don't sell IR cameras and the low light
work well in low light, and low light does
not mean total darkness.

Just as I have been saying all along.

why dont you read your first post in this
thread there you will see you where the first
person to even bring up ir. but since you
didnt know what ir meant i had to post the
definition off of dictionary.com for you. No
one ever said that x10 sold ir, just what ir
meant because for the ignorant person you are
you didnt know apparently. good thing you
cant go back and change your posts!!!! now
all can see for themselves

your ignorance is great because now you are
not mentioning what nightvision is since the
definition was posted. try keeping the
conversation on topic, that would help more
then explaining what x10 doesnt sell.!!!

Well before I purchased from X10 I did my
homework and found that low light are no
good at all in no light and also that the
IR cameras are actually only good for about
15'. So I went with the flood light w/ cam
and it works great. I get the floods coming
on that in itslf is a deterent and it
swithches VCR on and gets a video of the
person that triggered the lights. Know what
your buying...don't blame the product.

If you are willing to sacrifice color, and
you want about 13 minutes of extended
usability per day, the nightvision cams are
right for you.  Don't expect them to work
in the dark nor with an IR illuminators.
There are tons of other color IR
light/camera combos out there from
countless sources which typically have an
actual 30 ft. range in the dark. Yes those
do work as advertised.  Not high quality
but neither are x10.  x10 blames the
customer for why their products do not
work. Beware, these fanatics and x10
employees will rant on and on about how
this is untrue.  Caveat Emptor is x10's
motto! If you doubt me, read through all
the threads on these forums and you will
see who these nut-job fanatics and x10
employees are.
